FULL-TIME POLICE OFFICER OPEN POSITION
The City of Walker is seeking candidates to fill the position of a full-time Patrol Officer. Walker is located on Leech Lake, the third largest lake in Minnesota, and has a population of 980 full-time residents. Walker is a tourist destination in all seasons, with great fishing, hunting, walking/biking/snowmobile trails, community events and live music, and a multitude of downtown shops and restaurants. We are looking for someone who would engage in community policing, and build good relationships with residents, business owners, tourists, city staff, and the school district. The Walker Police Department has one full-time Chief of Police, two full-time Patrol Officers, and two part-time Patrol Officers. Applicant must be POST licensed or eligible to be licensed at the time of application. Preference will be given to full-time and/or part-time police officers with previous experience. The wage is $25.25 with experience and training considered. Wage increases and benefits are set every three years by the union contract. Applicants must pass a background check, physical exam, and psychological exam.
