CITY BOARD OPENINGS

The following are great opportunities to get involved and serve your community!

OPEN BOARD SEAT(S)

LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD – TWO OPENINGS: one (1) resident of a surrounding community seat open, one (1) resident of Walker seat open, with term limits of up to three (3) consecutive three (3) year terms.

The Library Advisory Board has seven (7) members: two (2) City Councilmembers, three (3) Walker residents, and two (2) surrounding community residents. They meet on the third Tuesday of every month at 5:00 p.m. Members advise the Walker City Council and City Staff on library concerns and promote library services in the community.


AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD – THREE OPENINGS: two (2) residents of Walker open, one (1) resident of the Walker Area Joint Fire Department Service District open, with term limits of up to three (3) year terms.

The Airport Advisory Board has five (5) members: two (2) City Councilmembers, two (2) residents of Walker, and one (1) resident within the Walker Area Joint Fire Department Service District. This is a new city advisory board that will meet about 4 times a year, plus any additional times as needed. Members will advise the Walker City Council and City Staff on the construction, improvement, and maintenance and operation of the Walker Municipal Airport, and general activities affecting the community.


CEMETERY ADVISORY BOARD – ONE OPENING: one (1) resident of Walker seat open, with term limit of up to two (2) consecutive three (3) year terms.
The Cemetery Advisory Board has seven (7) members: two (2) City Councilmembers, one (1) Shingobee Township Board member, two (2) residents of Walker, and two (2) residents of Shingobee Township.

the Board meets seasonally, usually once a month during the summer and as needed at other times. Members will advise the Walker City Council and City Staff on Walker Evergreen Cemetery maintenance, operations, and policies.

You can sit on more than one City Board! Those wishing to fill the open seats may fill out an application and return to the City Administrator, Hope Fairchild, by email at: hfairchild@ci.walker.mn.us, drop off at City Hall, located at 205 Minnesota Avenue West, Walker, MN 56484, or by mail at P.O. Box 207, Walker, MN 56484.
